Hey there friends! Yes, I’m alive and yes, I’m doing great. But I have fallen off the planet for a few months because…… YUP, you guessed it!!
My husband and I are so thrilled to expect a beautiful blessing March 1st!! Please keep us 1st time parents in your prayers! The first trimester is over (thankfully just in time for school) because I was soooo tired all. the. time. No sickness, thankfully, but just so exhausted!! Now, I have been so much better and I’ve had a lot more energy for my kiddos!!
Alright, back to business! I have lots of props to give out, because the new incentives that I’ve been using have been UH-MAZING!!!
So far, the beginning of my year has been outstanding!! My little kinders are super sweet and super smart! We have a great year ahead of us!! I wanted to share some cool {new} things I’m doing this year!
The first thing we are doing new this year are warm fuzzies!! I have actually always done warm fuzzies but it wasn’t my exclusive incentive program. I am lucky enough to work at a private Christian school and our discipline system is solely based on good, honorable character. Students can receive numbers for showing godly character qualities such as honor, respect, diligence, orderliness, etc. It looks a little like this…
So every time I see a student showing self control walking in the hallway I give them a number 6 for showing self control. It is the most amazing discipline system I’ve ever used, it focuses on GOOD characters not bad. So I decided to combine this with the warm fuzzy idea (which are just pom pom balls). So over the summer I came across Seusstastic’s Blog, which of course is outstanding and I LOVED how she did her warm fuzzies! She doesn’t have a treasure box, and I totally loved that idea! Who enjoys stocking a treasure box?… uh, not me! So instead, I decided to use her coupon system.
So here’s how it works. When a student gets a number for showing honorable character they can choose a warm fuzzy. I even used her super cute fuzzy cup idea (using paint cups which has the perfect size hole for a fuzzy!) And I labeled them with Cupcake for a Teacher’s awesome free printables!!
They LOVE getting to put their fuzzies in their cute little fuzzy cups!! Well, here’s where it gets interesting!! On FRIDAY’s ONLY, I allow students to trade in their fuzzies for, get this…. SPARKLERS!!!!! YES, it’s that easy! They can buy one coupon for two sparklers! I got the awesome coupons from Seusstastic, GENIUS!! No more treasure box!
Hope you enjoy seeing our new incentives this year! And next week I’ll be back with some math stations and FREEBIES!!
