We love doing our annual “framily” vacation with some of our besties! We’ve done a lot of trips together; it started with Boston in 2012, Tahoe in 2013, Arkansas in 2014, Port Aransas in 2015, Puerto Vallarta in 2016 (no kids), and Tahoe again in 2017. Look how those babies have grown!!!
This year we ventured down south to Lost Pines Resort & Spa in Bastrop,TX. It’s about 20 miles east of Austin on a 405 acre property. We had never been before and I must say we were VERY pleasantly surprised. The hotel was SUPER accommodating. Check in was a breeze and EVERY SINGLE staff member was friendly and hospitable. We checked in as a group of 12 and this amazing place accommodated all of us beautifully.
Lost Pines has an activity guide with lots of fun things planned each day. We visited with alpacas, saw longhorns, made crafts, played Gaga ball and much more!
Each night they provided s’mores at the fire pit, it was great time for us to unwind and visit on the lawn. The kids really enjoyed eating playing gaga ball, running around the lawn, playing frisbee and duck, duck, goose.
The ice cream from McDade’s Emporium was also a big hit on the warm nights. And the Starbuck’s was also a huge plus for this mama.
We also got a taste of the hiking, biking and nature tours.
Did I mention the amazing children’s pool with a water slide and an awesome lazy river that was shallow enough for the kids to reach! There were plenty of seats available, towels and wait staff every where you look! The kiddos loved floating the lazy river in and out of tubes and seeing the waterfalls and going through the mini rapids.
There was also plenty of options to rent cabanas and many beach entries for the younger kids to play and splash around. I didn’t snap any pics of the sandy beach but there is a large area of clean sand for those kiddos that love building sand castles.
We found a great spot that we “lived” pretty much the entire time. It was also great for the older kids to explore a little and come back to our home spot.
And if this place couldn’t get any better… they had a kid’s camp!!! You can book a fun-filled day (or night) for your kids to be taken care of while you head to the spa or just have some time at the “adult only” pool. Of course, we were a little worried about leaving the kids but when we returned they were all playing and working nicely. The camp teacher had the whole time planned out with crafts, games and playground time. The kids gave it two thumbs up!
Another fun thing Hyatt offers is a movie night on the lawn. They hand out large towels and free popcorn to enjoy the movie. They have plenty of activities for kids of all ages! And if you thought it couldn’t get better well, guess what?! They are pet friendly! You can bring Fido or Max and be sure to let them know so you get a dog bed and bowl in your room!
As far as dining, they had something for everyone. Whether we wanted to get showered and dressed and have a nice dinner at Firewheel Cafe or eat a pizza from Major’s out on the lawn there was always something that fit our needs.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure to book your excursions and other things when you book your room. Some activities may fill up quickly so be sure to secure your spot.
- Bring your own water bottles and other beverages/snacks, they have mini fridges in each room.
- No need to pack a crib or pack n play, they will provide one for you, just ask when you book your room.
- Bring your wheels. Bikes, scooters or even a jogging stroller are welcome!
- If you book the family plan you will get 50% off a second room for your kiddos.
I’d love to hear your tips and favorites if you’ve been to Lost Pines. Thanks for stopping by friends!
Happy sumer!
