This month was full of page-turners! I had a blast listening and reading these books. I guess I’ve gotten a little hooked on psychological thrillers so for February I’m going to try and venture out to some other genres. But for now, here’s what I read in January and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
Regretting You – What can I say, another CoHo book that did not disappoint! I absolutely love her addictive writing, she keeps me hooked until the very end. This one reads like a young adult fiction and contemporary romance and it’s weaved together so perfectly. Simply put, this is about grief, young love, complicated love, friendship and family. It’s better to go into this one without too much background information, just read it, you’ll love it. Promise.
The Family Upstairs – I ended up enjoying this book but it took me a while to get there. The time goes back and forth from past to present and at times, it was very confusing. There are also multiple characters and viewpoints so it had my spinning (almost to the point of having to write them all down to keep track.) Once I got to about 3/4 I had a full understanding and the plot was very gripping. The last sentence was straight out of left field and I had NO IDEA! I love that kind of twist. It’s good, but this definielty will require all of your attention.
The Last Mrs. Parrish – This book was FANTASTIC! This one was about a husband, wife and a home-wrecker, three characters told in two points of view. I was completely enthralled with every single second of this one. I could not put it down. If you like a good suspense/mystery than this fast-paced thriller is for you!
Unspeakable Things – I should’ve known better. The title is exactly what it is about. It’s very dark ands disturbing; molestation, incest and swinger parties are some of the elements in this storyline. I did not like the perspective of a 13 year old girl telling the horrible things happening, in all her innocence. And I especially didn’t like how it ended. It did however, get better after reading the author’s epilogue on her website, it answers many questions after the abrupt ending.
Well, there you have it. My month of mystery, psych-thrillers and one contemporary romance. I can’t wait to hear what you guys are reading!
