Let’s just start by saying, this day was pretty close to perfect.
As you know, the minute you have a second child, your life changes quite a bit. In a very different way than when you have your first. The dynamic has changed, your time management has changed and most of all the amount of time you get to yourself or your significant other has changed. This is not a complaint at all, I wouldn’t have my life any other way, it’s perfect. But after having Mia I was torn at the amount of time I was spending with her as opposed to the amount of time with Maddox. Before Mia, Maddox was my shadow, my partner, my other half.. literally. And it rocked my world to not have our bedtime routine, our random talks during diaper changes and all the things that goes with one on one time.
So when Maddox turned 2, my sister and Vinny gave Maddox a very special gift. It was a day filled with fun JUST WITH mommy and daddy. They were going to offer their time to watch Mia so we could do something with our big guy. I literally cried when I read the beautiful note ….
The reason I say it was “close to perfect” because of course we would have loved to have Mia there with us but I know Maddox truly appreciated some uninterrupted time with mommy and daddy.
We started our day with breakfast at our favorite place! Yummy!
We got to the Highland Village Egg Hunt and it was filled with fun stuff!
Maddox was super obsessed with the fire truck.
“Why are you leaving me here?”
Then it was time for the hunt! I loved that they had the baseball fields broken up by age, it was perfect.
What a cutie!
I’m pretty sure Maddox had the biggest basket of all the toddlers there. Ooops, I guess Mommy was kind of ambitious there.
(Check back tomorrow for a post on the kid’s easter baskets and what’s inside).
It was a success!
We found some fun games and activities all around!
And of course we had to go back to the fire engine!
I wish these photos came out a little better but this was the highlight of his day! This super sweet firefighter picked Maddox up to sit with him and M was on cloud nine!
Future fireman!
Random squirrel character that Maddox wanted absolutely nothing to do with.
He really wasn’t feeling the Easter bunny either.
Then we walked over to the pond and the park for more fun!
“Feed the ducks? Why do they get the yummy snacks?”
We also got to spend a little time at our neighborhood spring festival!
And hang out with our buddy Logan!
Perfect way to end a perfect day.
Overall, it really was a day to remember.
Even Mia enjoyed it, she slept most of the time we were gone!
We missed our sweet Mia baby but Maddox loved holding mommy AND daddy’s hand and swinging everywhere we went. He loved it so much that this is what he did on our way to church the next morning. He was holding my hand on one side and Mia/Daddy’s hand on the other. 🙂
Thank you again Mindy and Vinny for the wonderful gift, we all LOVED our special day!
