I’ll tell you what I want what I really really want!
If you’re singing along with me, you’re my people! If you have no idea what I’m talking about then you need to spice up your life!
Back to the topic at hand. I often get asked, what a teacher wants as a “back to school” gift… and it’s hard to answer.
I mean, don’t get me wrong I would love to get clorox wipes, ticonderoga pencils and glue sticks in bulk but that’s just not in the cards for us. And as a parent, I feel weird “gifting” my child’s teacher something they need, rather than what they would want. I hope that makes sense.
But here are a few ideas of what I would like and what I gift my kid’s teachers.
Cup & Necessities
These cups were from Amazon and I just whipped up some cute decals using my Crict Joy.
Inside I added a couple of things I knew they would use throughout the school year including, shout wipes, an Amazon gift card, candy, and some chapstick. You can find more ideas here in my Amazon storefront.
These little tags add a fun flair to any gift. See what I did there? 😉
Every teacher loves Flair pens. Well, I mean the smart ones do. Just click the photo below to download your own copy of the tags.
the 3 c's
This year I’m thinking of how hectic that first week of school can be and THIS idea from Lisa over at Over The Big Moon is BRILLIANT! I actually got this (from a teacher kid) a few years ago and it was the sweetest, most thoughtful idea because I definitely needed those 3 c’s. I recreated the tag and you’re welcome to download it for yourself by clicking the image below.
I am currently obsessed with these Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups from Trader Joe’s so I picked up a few extra boxes. Then I grabbed some gift cards for any place they can caffeinate. Finally, I added the gift tag cards and there you go! I left a little space at the bottom so my kiddos can write their name.

First week back no dishes
Lisa also has this great idea that will save a teacher’s sanity when we are exhausted that first week back. I love this idea for any teacher but especially one that has a large family to take care of at the end of a hard work week.
Gift Cards
what a teacher really wants
My last piece of advice is to be creative and thoughtful. Any teacher will be grateful for anything just because you thought of them.
If you’d like to carry on the love throughout the year, send this little note to school. Once the teacher has completed it, take a picture of it (so it’s on your phone at all times). That way the next time you run into the convenience store for gum, grab a sweet treat for your kid’s teacher. It will make. their. day.
