I love starting a new year! It brings a new perspective and new hope for a fresh start to another year. I’m joining the fabulous Andrea at Momfessionals for Show and Tell Tuesdays and today it’s all about goals for the New Year! So grab the graphic and link up!
Zach and I strongly believe in setting goals every year. He does a waaaay better job than I do to really accomplish his goals and the past to years he has surpassed his business goals by a mile! He is so determined and has the most incredible work ethic, its very admirable. Some of the things he does is write everything down. He believes in seeing it in writing and crossing things off his list and apparently it works. So my goal is to have 2-3 things each month that I want to accomplish. Thinking of doing something in the span of 12 months is too overwhelming and I think that’s why I fail. So every month I am writing new goals in my calendar and I will do a few things to try and complete those goals.
1. Write it down.
I’m going to write them down in my planner, maybe put it on a post-it to put on my mirror or refrigerator. I think it’s important to see it on a daily basis.
2. Hold myself accountable.
I will give myself a small incentive each month if I have accomplished each goal, maybe a mani or something like that.
3. Set attainable goals.
I’m not going to set myself up for failure. I want to have certain goals that I can accomplish. Things that are important to me and my family.
So what are my goals for this month?
I’ve already started this one!
The past few nights where Mia (one month old) gets really fussy or needy when I am EXHAUSTED instead of getting frustrated I have just taken a moment and said a prayer asking for strength, patience and peace and I literally felt a million times better. It made me rethink my frustrations and take a step back, instead of feeling sorry for myself or getting too frustrated.
Which brings me to my second goal, PRAY MORE with Maddox! I want to make it a goal to pray before every meal, not just dinner and every evening no matter how sleepy I am. I want to train my child to talk to God in the good times, bad times and whenever he needs to express his feelings and this starts with me! I am going to start with adding a bedtime prayer to his routine. He already seems to love his prayer book.
My third goal is to put more time aside with just Zach.
It was already hard with a toddler, then you add a newborn in the mix and it gets even harder. I want to keep him first and that means setting time just for him. I want to make an effort to have “date night” at least twice a month this month. Once Mia gets older I definitely want to move it to a weekly date night like we had before, but for now twice a month is a great start.
Isn’t he just the cutest?
Maybe I’ll try something like this next month! And set aside two preplanned, prepaid date nights.
Great resolutions! I need to do the same- Pray more, worry less! Blessings to you and your family in this new year. Stopping by from the link up. April 🙂 http://www.lifeinbucklesberry.blogspot.com
Stopping by from the link up! 🙂 I love all of your goals, they are very similar to mine, it seems like we are in the same stages of life! I too want to pray more and spend more time in scripture, and spend more one on one time with my husband. Both are so important! Many blessings in 2015! Whitney from http://www.gracefullymama.com
