Planning has always been easy for me. I have always made it a priority to create a (color coordinating) planner. And as a family, we have a home command center that I sync every month. But you don’t need a planner, markers, stickers and washi tape to be more organized. Just jot down a few things on your calendar to stay on track.
There are many things we plan throughout the month. Our schedule is always full, so here are a few top priorities that we write down first.
Family Time: This could be a family outing, dinner with other family members or hanging out with grandparents.
Date Nights: This has become a priority to us, especially after having kids. We like to get this down so we can secure a sitter in time.
Bible Studies/Small Group: We usually meet with our small group every other week so it’s important to get that on the calendar.
Kid’s Activities: This one is mainly for the summer because I find myself occupying our time to keep them from being too bored. I write down camp and practice times so we can plan accordingly.
Miscellaneous: This is basically for Doctor appointments, haircuts, car maintenance, etc.
I like to keep my school and home calendar in one. Last year I used an Erin Condren and this year I’m considering venturing to a Happy Planner.
I always use my planner and Zach’s calendar to sync it to our home calendar. This is up in our kitchen, we see it everyday so we try to keep it up to date.
This was last month and as you can see there is a lot to keep up with so we really try to be intentional about writing it all down so we don’t miss a thing. I realize a lot of families are all digital, and yes, we still keep some appointments on our phone calendar but this (old school way) has helped up so far. I think it will also help our kiddos know what’s going on (obviously when they can read😜).
I don’t have a secret to organization this is just what we do and it seems to work for us. I would love to hear any new ideas you can share. I like hearing ideas from you guys!
