Guess what day it is?! BOOK REVIEW DAY! I always get so excited for this post each month. Mainly because I LOVE to share my reading reviews but also because I enjoy hearing YOUR book recommendations.
Starting this new year I kicked it off with some crazy THRILLERS.. and one sweet rom-com.
Layla by Colleen Hoover
Okay, here me out… it was good, but not my favorite. And like any Co Ho novel it was a page-turner and definitely interesting. It just wasn’t for me. So without giving anything away here’s a brief synopsis… A musician named Leeds meets a woman named “Layla”… but not that Layla. Confused yet? Good, then you’re right on track. 😜
In A Holidaze by Christina Lauren
This was so cute! I don’t usually love/read this genre, but it was a nice surprise. Not too cheesy, heartwarming and enjoyable. It has a “Groundhog’s Day”. Every year Maelyn Jones, her family and two other family’s have spent have spent Christmas together in a cabin in Utah. It’s her favorite place in the world, but this year is a bit different. Her life isn’t on the track she’d like it to be, she made the hugest mistake with a childhood friend Toby, has unrequited feelings for his brother Andrew and worst of all: the cabin will soon be sold. She finds herself reliving the same day a few times over and finding herself in the process.
The Wrong Family by Tarryn Fisher
I love Tarryn Fisher. She seriously has the most dark and twisted mind. She creates the most intriguing characters that will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Here’s the synopsis; Nigel, his wife Winnie and their son Samuel live an idyllic life in Seattle and all seems rosy from the outside. Inside, things are not always what they seem. And thanks to Juno (a former therapist, married with a family that recently lost it all), readers are given an up close view of what goes on behind closed doors. The last page will leave you stunned beyond belief. It’s NOT what you think!
The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins
This one was a blend of The Last Mrs. Parrish and Verity. It’s a super fast- paced thriller with mulitple pov’s, short chapters and plenty of creepy vibes. AND THE ENDING! Put this on your TBR pile if you like a good thriller. Thornfield Estates is all about keeping up with your neighbors…literally. When one neighbor gets a dog walker, well they all HAVE to have a dog walker too. Why on earth do all these “ladies of leisure” need a dog walker?
As usual if you’d like to see my quick review as I finish each book, follow along on Instagram and see my short reviews every week! You can find these slides in my stories or in my Book Review Highlight on my IG page.
They look like this.
So now please tell me what you’re reading. I can’t wait to put a few new titles on my nightstand.
