I can’t believe this is the first book review of 2025! Where has the time gone?! It’s going to be a good one.

This book was fun! It had an interesting plot (I love a good whodunnit) with a podcast element that had me sucked in from the start!
The Lake of Lost Girls is a thriller about a series of college co-ed disappearances in 1998 that remain unsolved—until a popular true crime podcast reignites interest in the case.
If you like listening to podcasts and audiobooks, then you should definitely pick this one up!
A murder mystery AND a timeless love story? Yes please!!
Magical realism is usually something I don’t love, but this one did it JUST RIGHT!
It had the perfect amount of romance, mystery and a dreamy atmosphere.magical realism
murder mystery
atmospheric writing
Be prepared… Young writes a complex timeline, so make sure you can get a lot of reading done in one sitting, otherwise it might be very confusing.

Beautiful Ugly | Alice Feeney
I had HIIIIGH expectations for this one! The wife goes missing in an eerily, creepy way and the husband is desperate to find her. Then nothing happens… It gets long and repetitive and honestly unbelievable. I loved Feeney’s other books, Rock, Paper Scissors and Daisy Darker but this one just missed the mark.
A great psychological thriller from Lisa Jewell. I was absolutely hooked from the start. The thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is that it was a little too long (almost 400 pages) so I kept thinking of things that weren’t necessary to the plot.
This one was very TWISTY, which made it tedious to get through. You had to suspend belief just a bit because if I was Martha he would’ve been out the door!
Soooo, this was a good one for sure, but not as good as Then She Was Gone.
