I can’t believe it was 12 weeks ago we were at the hospital getting ready to take this little guy home! The time has definitely flown by.
We are now on a set feeding schedule and he’s sleeping pretty good through the night, only waking mommy up once or twice! This month was really hard for mommy because Maddox had to get his vaccination shots! We wanted to split up the 5 shots into 2 visits just in case there were any side effects (fever, fussiness or not sleeping). So the first visit he got two shots, one in each thigh. We laid him on the table and the nurse got the needle ready and sweet boy was just looking all around, smiling at daddy, when all the sudden the needle went in. The look of horror and “why are you doing this to me” came over his face and a blood curdling scream quickly followed. It was the WORST feeling in the world knowing you can’t do anything to make them feel better. Once he caught his breath and calmed down a little she stabbed the second needle in the other thigh and the same thing happened. I couldn’t hold back my tears and I started to cry…. so painful watching my little one go through such an awful experience and mommy was right there and couldn’t do anything about it. Once we got him home all I wanted to do was hold him and cuddle with him ALL day… and I did. I think I needed the extra cuddles more than he did. He didn’t end up with a fever or ANY other side effects (except sleeping a lot), so we waited a few days and took him for his final 3 shots. I’ll spare you the details because it was exactly the same! Yup, he cried, I cried we ALL cried!
Yes, I know he won’t remember it…. but I will. I just remember praying that evening while holding him in my arms, that the Lord always keeps him in His sight and always has a protecting hand over him.
Maddox is laughing and making more sounds, ooing and aaing at mommy and daddy’s voice! He even enjoys listening to other voices like Mimi, Nonnie & Aunt Sissy! Maddox and mommy enjoy going to the mall or anywhere he can relax in his stroller while mommy spends money . We took another trip to San Antonio to visit family for Mother’s Day weekend and he LOVED seeing the family. He even enjoyed listening to great Grandma sing to him in Spanish!
We also made a trip to Legacy so my students could meet Maddox… boy was that exciting! As soon as we walked in it felt so surreal. This was my classroom but I wasn’t in charge of it. The student’s work was up, but I hadn’t taught them the material. It was just weird (as Ady would say.) Maddox and I sat in front of the class and they loved watching his faces and even made him smile. I’ll always remember that sweet class and the amazing parents that gave us so much love and support throughout the pregnancy and even when lil’ man arrived. God is good and I know each of those kiddos where placed in that room for a reason.
And last, Maddox had his first experience in the pool! We took him over to Nonnie and Poppy’s house for a little dip. It ended up being a little too cool to get all the way in, but he dipped his feet in… and to be honest, I don’t think he was very impressed! lol
Okay, okay now that I’ve blabbed on forever here are some photos!
Isn’t he just the cutest thing you ever saw?!
(And yes, I’m obsessed with this app that I can add text and doodles!)
We had such a great visit!
We even did great on the car ride!
I bet Maddox is thinking “I don’t know what she’s saying, but I like it!”
This is what I do when mommy shops!
I’m ready for summer!
Just chillin’ with my Dad!
They loved getting to meet Mr. Maddox. One student asked me where my belly was?! lol I held up Maddox and said right here!
Yes he did! It was more like “I had a blowout!” Joke’s on you mommy!
First time in the pool!
I love his face on the left… “Um what’s the big deal?”
I pray that they may grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18
