Happy April!! That only means one thing… book review day!!
If you’re new here I like to share my latest reads each month and rate them on a scale from 1-5 stars. Here’s my rating scale (if you’re curious).
1 star- I pretty much hated it or didn’t finish it
2 stars- I really didn’t like it, but got through it
3 stars- I thought it was ok, or I wasn’t really into it
4 stars- It was good
5 stars- I loved it and would recommend it!
So, let’s get started!!
This was a FAST paced read for me. I literally did not want to put it down. The synopsis will grab you so fast! This one had me questioning what I thought I knew and wondering about the decisions the MC was making.
Irish Walsh a 15 year old at the mall sees her twin sister, Piper, get kidnapped in the front of the movie theater. She tells the police everything, down to the detail of the white van, but no one believes her.
Fast forward a decade later, now Iris an adult is obsessed with finding out what happened to Piper. Knowing there must be answers here, she takes an internship at an isolated hospital for the criminally insane. Whether it’s justice or revenge, Iris doesn’t plan on anything or anyone stopping her.
This one will have you in a rollercoaster of emotions, with a shocking (almost unbelievable) twist.
Katherine Center is always a hit for me. I love how she envelopes romance and self-discovery all at once. She truly encompasses fun storylines full of comfort and hope.
Sadie is a gifted artist, who just found out she is a finalist for a very well-known art contest. When all the sudden she wakes up in a hospital room, after having a seizure, and is diagnosed with a unique condition called “face blindness.” Although she can see, every face she looks at it is a jumbled jigsaw of features. But as she struggles to make her artistic dream come true, work through some family issues and take care of her dog, Peanut- she falls in love with not one man- but two!
This one was a breath of fresh air. It was a delight from start to finish, and I can see myself recommending this for a beach read.
I love Lynn Painter. There hasn’t been a book of hers that I didn’t adore. That includes this sweet little rom-com inspired ya.
Let’s start with the things I loved… the T. Swift lyrics (swoon), witty banter, When Harry Met Sally references.
However, the subplot of a bet in a bet was a little too much (and not necessary) in my opinion.
All in all Lynn Painter is a master at writing the perfect YA romance books. There is no smut (although still mature), perfectly paced and will keep you engaged the whole time. If you’re needing a little escape, pick this one up!
Another fabulous popcorn thriller by Frieda McFadden!
I was sceptical to start this one but I’m so glad I did. The ending had my jaw on the ground!! I was totally surprised! It’s a twisty one for sure.
I recommend going into this one blind. All you need to know is that it’s about two teachers, they are married and work at the same school.
