Stranger in the Lake – So, this one was fantastic! Charlotte or Charlie- depending on who you ask…has found the man of her dreams. A small town girl that was raised by a drug addict in a trailer park that was under deplorable conditions- marries the town millionaire….hmm this is going to be interesting. Although I figured this one out kind of early on, I still really enjoyed watching it all unfold. Kimberly Belle knocked another one out of the park!
Heart Bones – I mean, what can I say about this one?.. If Colleen Hoover rewrites the phone book I would read it! It’s my version of Hallmark movies, not as cheesey but the same formula… but it doesn’t matter, CoHo can do no wrong! I think this young adult book is very underrated.
She comes from a life of poverty and neglect; he comes from a family of wealth and privilege. But one thing they do have in common is that they’re both drawn to sad things. Which means they’re drawn to each other. With an almost immediate connection too intense for them to continue denying, Beyah and Samson agree to stay in the shallow end of a summer fling. What Beyah doesn’t realize is that a rip current is coming, and it’s about to drag her heart out to sea.
I couldn’t put this one down, I know I say that a lot about her books, but it’s true. I couldn’t stop reading and when I got to the end (totally unexpected and not my jam at all) I was totally satisfied and content. Ah, so good! READ IT.
Hang on to your husbands ladies, Piper is in town! Constantine, author of The Last Mrs. Parrish does it again with another twisty thriller. And let me tell you this… YOU WILL NOT FIGURE THIS ONE OUT UNTIL THE VERY END! Woah, what a crazy twist that I did NOT see coming.
The Wife Stalker is a thriller about a rivalry between two women in love with the same man. Joanna worries about Leo, who seems so troubled by his problems at work that he’s distant from both her and his children. Enter Piper, the very attractive director of the new wellness center in town. Leo signs up for a meditation course there and starts spending more and more time with Piper. Soon the two of them get VERY cozy, making Joanna upset and confused.
So Joanna decides to find out more about her rival. She does a little online research and what she discovers horrifies her. Piper doesn’t have the best luck with husbands. Like … they mysteriously die! But Leo refuses to listen and so they grow more and more distant. I could see where I thought the book was going then BOOM! If you like twisty storylines- this one is for you.
The Stillwater Girls – Two completely different stories intertwined into one, leaves you asking yourself how in the world these two stories are related. How can these merge? But wait… You will be trying to figure out this jigsaw until about half way.
This one actually reminded me a lot of Where the Crawdads Sing, with the same eerie feeling of isolation… When nineteen-year-old Wren and her two sisters, Sage and Evie, were raised in off-the-grid isolation in a primitive cabin in upstate New York. When the youngest grows gravely ill, their mother leaves with the child to get help from a nearby town. And they never return.
I loved reading these books this month, they were all great thrillers that will surely satisfy your craving. I’d love to hear what you’re reading. Leave a comment below if you’ve read these and tell me what you think!
