Today’s Toddler Tuesday is all about Outdoor activities!
One of my favorite times of the year is SPRING! Here in Texas we get a very tiny window of spring. It’s either ridiculously cold… and yes I mean in the 40’s 🙂 or 110 degrees. So April is just about the only time we may get some great spring weather.
So I thought I would share a few things we like to do outside during this beautiful time of year. It’s usually too cold for the pool but nice enough to enjoy the time outdoors. Of course you can always swing by your nearest park but here are some backyard activities that require little to no prep or the million germs you’re sure to get at the park. 🙂
Almost every single day when we get home we go for a ride in his blue car! It is a great time to get a little walk in with the dogs and Maddox just loves the scenery!
Here are a few others you can find that are great!
I love the Mickey Mouse car on the top right because it has 3 levels! The first is immobile they just sit and play with the wheel and other gadgets. And I love the seat restraint so they can’t fall out. Level 2 the car comes out of the base and you can use the handle to push them around. Maddox loooooved “chasing” after the dogs! And then level 3 you can take off the handle and they can ride the car with their feet.
My main thing is having a handle, so you’re not having to hunch over and push them along. The wagon looks great for twins or siblings! You can see it here from Target!
We also love our Sports Climber! Maddox got this on his birthday from his sweet Aunt Savanah and he LOVES this thing! It has a climbing ladder on one side and a slide on the other. There is a hoop and two little slots for a football and soccer ball.
At first I thought he was too young to really enjoy it but as soon as I set him in front of the red ladder he went nuts! He loved climbing up and and down and yes at 12 months, he could do it just fine! This would be a great addition to your backyard, it’s small, it’s cheap and it will occupy your kiddo for hours!
The slide on the other side is perfect height for him and he loves trying to go down by himself.
Bubbles!!
It’s that easy. Our favorite bubbles are Gymboree bubbles. They are seriously the best bubbles ever! They are super strong and don’t just break up in the wind. When I served at our nursery at our church I would come home with them still on my hair or shoulders. They were awesome!
You can also go big and get this big bubble bucket! Fubbles is awesome!
This little tunnel is also a fun, easy way to occupy your kidlet. Just throw it out in the grass and watch them play! Sometimes I throw some random toys inside to watch him crawl through and find a treat! I also love watching the dogs crawl through to see what it’s all about!
You can find this cheap tunnel at Ikea for only 14.99. If there isn’t one nearby you can order it online.
We love throwing these out on the grass and watching him play! This is a great developmental skill that teaches size and volume. You can even add sand or beans (as long as they won’t try to eat it) to make it even more inventive as they stack and fill the cups.
Another easy way to make stacking cups fun in by adding the water feature!
Fill a plastic pool or even baby tub with some water and let them get a little wet digging in and splashing around!
These are great for outdoor play and super easy to install!
I read a ton of reviews on this before buying it and I did not regret it. Maddox loves swinging and it is in the comfort of our own backyard! This swing has a very sturdy harness so the toddler can not adjust the strap or tip forward. It is very safe and well worth the price! Check out the reviews here on Amazon.
Who doesn’t love a good ol’ fashion ball pit?
This little guy does!
Just look at that grin!
From the moment we put him in the pit he was entertained for minutes! You know that is a glorious hour in toddler time! All you need is a cheap pool from Wal Mart (or wherever) and a box of these awesome plastic balls! I ordered one box and it was the perfect amount to fill (but not overfill) our tiny pool. He loved it!
Invite some friends and you have a party!!
Splash pad!!
So a few weeks ago I blogged about this little beauty and guess what?! Maddox got a package in the mail yesterday and his PawPaw surprised him with it! We haven’t had a chance to play yet but this will be a perfect addition to those warmer days!
Thanks PawPaw!!
So there you have it, 8 of our favorite outdoor/backyard activities!
