We decided to join the 28% of Americans who are having 3 or more children. You may think we’re crazy but let me tell you something…. WE ARE!
When you sit down and write a pro/con list about having a third, it will most likely point to no. But here’s why we decided to have another one anyway.
On the con list, you need a larger car, a bigger table at every restaurant, it’s a lot harder to travel. Each parent will need more time/energy to give attention to each kid. And most importantly, you’ll need more college money.
But as the kids got older we couldn’t get that feeling out of our minds that our family wasn’t complete. It’s always been on our hearts to possibly adopt but the prayer we had been lifting up is “should we have just one more then in the future think about adoption…?” And that’s where our hearts settled.
Here are our top four reasons for having baby #3.
1.We both come from “big families” and wanted the same for our kids.
Zach has a total of 5 siblings and I have a total of 3. We love having family get togethers, there’s always someone to play with and they LOVE visiting their cousins each time. Our kids have 5 cousins so far and we know it will continue to grow.
2. One kid will have a same sex sibling.
I would love for Mia to have a little sister to grow up with but I would also love for Maddox to have a life long best friend. Girls have their mama. 😉 Either way, there will always be someone who understands what they’re going through and I love that for them.
3. Adding joy to your other child’s lives.
I think it’s natural to feel guilty about having another baby because your time is cut in half (or in thirds) but think about how much FUN your other kids will have watching their littlest sibling grow up. It really does bring them joy to make them laugh for the first time or teach them to walk or jump on the trampoline. It brings a sense of togetherness.
4. It’s ALWAYS a circus, so why not add to the party?
Yes, this means less sleep, more frustrations, more sickness, and more stress. But you know what else increases?… More love, more snuggles, more hugs, more kisses and MORE MEMORIES!
